A FAIRYTALE
Once upon a time, there was a cataclysm and so Kim and Shiloh left New York on foot.
They were in the woods. They had been walking for a very long time.
It was getting dark and a storm was coming on. What should we do? said Kim.
I know where home is, but I can't find the memory that would take us there, said Shiloh.
They had an idea. They would do an old spell to call the memory so that they could make it to home before night came.
They needed seven bones. Between their backpacks, they had four.
They searched the woods for the other three. Each bone had a name: Forgetting, Inheritance, and Where-Are-You-From were the names of those three bones.
I found Forgetting, said Shiloh.
I found Inheritance, said Kim.
They found Where-Are-You-From together.
Kim and Shiloh boiled the bones in a pot. Come, come, come, said the bones. Kim and Shiloh fell asleep by the fire.
In the middle of the night they were awakened by a spirit riding a horse. Is it a good spirit or a bad spirit? they asked each other. Then they shrugged, because morality is sometimes relative. They jumped on the horse and rode to an old abandoned house. The spirit vanished.
What is this place? asked Shiloh, opening the creaky wooden door to a dense darkness. The darkness was full of night sounds.
